998年に33歳で急死したX JAPANのギタリストhideの過去のライブ映像を大スクリーンで見せるフィルムコンサートが、CLUBCITTA'で命日の5月2日に開かれた。公演は2部制で、第2部アンコールでは3月から東名などで行なったミュージカル「ピンクスパイダー」に出演した武田真治、渡部豪太らがサプライズで登場。武田真治が「everfree」の楽曲に合わせ舞台でも演奏したサックスを披露したほか、「ROCKETDIVE」を合唱するなどし盛り上げた。武田真治は「これはロックミュージカル『ピンクスパイダー』の第一章の終わりであり、第二章の始まり。再演するときは、ここにいる全員が観にきてくれますね?」と呼びかけると会場に集まった1400人から拍手が沸き起こっていた。
と題したフィルムライブは、第1部が1994年3月~5月に全12会場で16公演を展開したファーストソロツアーの最終日横浜アリーナ公演を。第2部は1996年9月~10月に全13会場18公演を行なったセカンドソロツアーの最終日国立代々木競技場第一体育館でのステージを大スクリーンに映し出し、ライブを再現した。
フィルムでは、「TELLME」などを歌うhideの映像のほか楽屋風景も放映。第2部の本編最後に流れた「GOODBYE」では、hideの「青い空なんて大っ嫌いって言っていた俺が青い空へ戻ります」の声に泣き出すファンの姿もあった。
2010年の命日には、築地本願寺で十三回忌法要が営まれ、一般献花には早朝から3万5000人が列を作った。この日も本願寺には、13年前に息を引き取った午前8時52分に黙とうを捧げる人、ほか本堂内にあるhideの写真が置かれたテーブルの前で手を合わせる人などの姿が。真っ赤なバラの花束が手向けられたテーブルには誰もが自由に思いを書き込むことができる「hideノート」があり、ノートには「ずっとずっとhideちゃんのこと忘れないよ。
胸に大事にしまって、毎日をちゃんと生きています」、「X JAPANが海外で暴れるらしいので、ムチャしないようYOSHIKIさんのこと、とめてあげてね」など、様々な思いが寄せられている。栃木県から来た30代の女性は「お墓参りの前に寄りました。今日はみんながhideさんとつながる日」と目を赤くした。
YOSHIKIは自身のTwitter( 5/2付 ) で「Dear friend….You still breathe….and will always live in side my heart…」「…and the spirit of Hide will be with us….on our tour as well!」とメッセージ。盟友への熱い思いと、変わらぬ絆を記した。
X JAPANは6月28日のロンドンを皮切りに、7月1日のパリ、同2日にユトレヒト、同4日のベルリンで初の欧州ツアーを、9月9日からはチリなど5公演を予定。hideは、クラブイベント<クラブサイエンス>を6月30日に新宿MARZで予定している。
